Gangs Squad police continue to target consorting offences - Strike Force Raptor
Monday, 16 March 2015 02:34:14 PM
Investigators from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor have charged three senior members of the Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) and issued over thirty consorting warnings after a club meeting at the weekend.
Strike Force Raptor has been conducting investigations into the habitual consorting of a number of Nomads members with convicted criminals.
Police received information members of the gang were preparing to conduct a meeting at a club in the Newcastle suburb of Wickham on Saturday night (14 March 2015).
Officers attended and issued all 31 gang members with warnings under consorting legislation.
Additionally, three senior members – aged 34, 31 and 28 – were arrested and charged with breaching non-association orders within their bail conditions.
All three men were granted conditional bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Monday 13 April 2015.
The action follows a clubhouse raid at Wetherill Park on Friday 30 January 2015, where police – investigating criminal activity by the gang – arrested and charged 13 Nomads members under anti-consorting legislation.
Those charged during the raid are all due to appear in court later this month, with the exception of one man, who is expected to face court in April.
Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
