' Glioma are tumours developing from the Glial Cells (Glue) which provide myelin and support structures to the neuron cells of the brain and periphery... Astrocytes, ependymal cells, oligodendrocytes are the subsets of the Glioma's. So the tumour may be exclusively or a mixture of these and perhaps other cells... DIPG refers to the Location, Spread and Type of the tumour classification - Diffuse = Spread, Intrinsic = Essential, Pontine = in the Pons part of the Brain Stem, Glioma = the Type of Cell Classification of which there is the subsets noted above...
