To assist an ongoing investigation, detectives from the Drug Squad have released footage from inside a clandestine laboratory in Sydney’s north-west, as well as an image of a vehicle regularly seen near the location.
Last year, on Sunday 28 July 2013, officers from Fire and Rescue NSW were called to an industrial unit on Severn Street in St Mary’s after witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the building.
A clandestine laboratory was located inside the premises, and specialist staff from the Drug Squad’s Chemical Operations Team were called out to examine and process the site.
Strike Force Archbold was formed by the Drug Squad to investigate the matter and earlier this week, on Monday (25 August 2014), detectives attended a government facility in Silverwater where they arrested and charged a 39-year-old man with large commercial drug manufacture.
The man was remanded in custody and appeared in Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 26 August 2014), where he was refused bail to reappear on 5 September 2014.
Inquiries into the matter are ongoing and detectives are hoping to make more arrests.
Today (Wednesday 27 August 2014), police have released footage of the Chemical Operations Team processing the clandestine laboratory in July 2013, as well as a CCTV still of a dark-coloured Toyota Hilux ute which was regularly seen at the St Mary’s unit during 2013.
Anyone with information that may assist detectives is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously and will be treated in the strictest confidence.
