Housing Commission selling assets....total today $43.1 million

    GPNSW Logo

    Jennifer Stone

    Dear Jennifer
Three government-owned properties at Millers Point were successfully sold at auction on Monday, 1 June 2015 for a total of $5.4 million. This brings total sales to date to $43.1 million. The auction was undertaken by Raine & Horne Double Bay on behalf of the NSW Government and generated a strong level of interest.

In addition, GPNSW is pleased to advise the next three government-owned properties to be marketed are 18 Trinity Avenue, 34 Kent Street and 54A&B Kent Street, Millers Point.

Sydney Cove Property will be managing the sale of 34 Kent Street, Millers Point.

McGrath Real Estate will be managing the sales of 18 Trinity Avenue and 54A&B Kent Street, Millers Point.

Now we have to watch where does this money end up.  I agree the houses to be sold and relocation out of Sydney city is a good idea as I have written about the decentralising of the services from the city will help those in need more.

We have found the people have been moved to Ultimo which is good, yet there are units within the housing commission that are empty I have been told or in need of repair that could help with the housing situation with the influx of homeless in the city and growing is  a problem which the food van's visiting the heart of the city, we have The Station in Wynard, Matthew Talbot Hostel and the building behind Oxford Street.  Yes these are in the heart of the homeless issue.  Moving the facilities and what happens?  More tents in Central Station Park have come.

On 9 May 2008, Westpac and St.George released communications outlining an intention to merge, which was approved by St.George shareholders on 13 November 2008, and upheld by the Australian Federal Court on 17 November 2008. Immediately following the court decision, Paul Fegan announced his resignation as CEO and managing director. St.George, and BankSA, became a subsidiary of Westpac on 1 December 2008.

      Relaunch of Bank of Melbourne[edit]

The Bank of Melbourne is a subsidiary of Westpac Banking Corporation, and was relaunched in August 2011. Previously, Westpac Banking Corporation had purchased the old Bank of Melbourne business in 1997 (a separate and independently operating building society located in Melbourne), and after some preliminary steps, subsequently closed its doors in 2002 and merged the remaining operations under the Westpac banner. The relaunched Bank of Melbourne is replacing the St.George Bank brand completely throughout Victoria.

    Detective Inspector was left?

By 1995, the Commission had uncovered hundreds of instances of bribery, money laundering, drug trafficking, fabrication of evidence, destruction of evidence, fraud and serious assaults in just the detective division of the Kings Cross patrol. Participation in misconduct was universal in the detective division of the Kings Cross patrol, and the senior levels of the branch had detective sergeants and the chief detective in a permanent corrupt relationship with major drug traffickers and the local criminal milieu. The Kings Cross detectives received payments akin to a "rent" from individuals like Bill Bayeh, Stave Hardas and "Fat" George; the payments totalled thousands of dollars per week, collected by Sergeant Trevor Haken and shared amongst the six detective sergeants and the chief detective ("Chook" Fowler). This corrupt practice was known in police circles as "the laugh".
