Five men arrested earlier today (Thursday 12 December 2013), as part of a police investigation into a public place shooting in Guildford, have now been charged.
A 32-year-old Guildford man has been charged with numerous offences, including: shoot at with intent to murder; discharge firearm intending to cause grievous bodily harm; possess loaded firearm in a public place; affray; and, possess unauthorised firearm.
Four other men – a 34-year-old, a 28-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old – have each been charged with affray and conceal serious indictable offence.
All five men are scheduled to appear in Parramatta Local Court this afternoon (Thursday 12 December 2013).
Today’s arrests followed an investigation into a public place shooting in July.
About 4.45pm on Thursday 25 July 2013, police were called to Garnet Street at Guildford after reports that several shots had been fired.

Officers established a crime scene at the location and specialist forensic police examined the area, locating several spent bullet cartridges.
Officers from the Rosehill Local Area Command formed Strike Force Tomlin to investigate the shooting, and will allege it involved two groups who had been engaged in an argument on the street shortly before the bullets were fired.

At 6am today (Thursday 12 December 2013), police from Rosehill Local Area Command were joined by specialist officers from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) in executing search warrants at properties in Guildford and Merrylands.
Three men – a 28-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old – were arrested at the Guildford property, while a 34-year-old man was arrested in South Granville a short time later.
A fifth man, a 32-year-old from Guildford, was arrested at Parramatta Police Station at 10.30am.
Detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting incident and expect to make more arrests.
