Sleevemasters Tattoo shop, Kings Cross History gone forever.
First opened in 1984 and situated in Kings Cross, the heart of Sydney’s ‘red light’ district, Sleevemasters has established itself as Australia’s most highly-regarded and well-known tattoo studio.
Described by Scottish tattoo magazine writer Terry Wrigley as “the busiest tattoo shop in the world”, Sleevemasters has continually turned out high volume tattooing year after year.
The studio which is known today as Sleevemasters was originally started 1984, and was known simply as Kings Cross Tattoo Studio. In 1986, a change in management brought a change in name and Sleevemasters was born, (due to the large amount of freehand sleeve work being done).
Business quickly built to the stage where Sleevemasters was supporting seven full-time tattooists and three assistants. The studio’s reputation for quality, no-nonsense, on-the-spot tattooing quickly grew and attracted a large clientele from all walks of life. Sleevemasters specialises in all styles of tattooing – on the spot artwork, freehand, Celtic, tribal, traditional, bio-mechanical, re-works and cover-ups, colour work or black shading, portraits, new age – anything you can think of. You can bring your own design or logo and we can work from this as well. We do all large back peices and body suits right down to tiny butterflies on your girlfriend’s bum on the spot.
SleeveMasters is open from Midday to 4am, 7 days a week, so there is no need to make an appointment.
Every artist at Sleevemasters is a full time professional tattoo artist – with a total of over 75 years of experience between them – and a member of the PTAA (Professional Tattooing Association of Australia) who knows their job and are interested only in producing quality work.
